“We are Born Perfect – We Just Forget That”

The word Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words: Rei which means “God’s Wisdom” or the “Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So it is said that Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki is a Safe, Complementary and Holistic Healing technique which has it’s origins based in the east. Due to its simple formula it has become well known and easily available to many in the West, and is an easy to learn and effective healing method that anyone can use. Reiki was developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. It uses a technique commonly called palm healing, energy healing, as a form of complementary and alternative healing. Reiki is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional bodies. Through the use of this technique, practitioners believe that they are transferring healing energy in the form of Ki (Qi) through the palms.

Reiki is a Japanese technique which can aid stress reduction, bring deep relaxation, and also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through each of us, bringing life. If our “life force energy” is said to be low, then we are more likely to become sick or feel stress etc. If this “life force” is high, then we are more capable of sustaining happiness and health.

What does a treatment feel like? Everyone is unique, so everyones experience of a Reiki treatment will also be unique, yet there are common similarities described. In general a treatment brings release from stress and instills a deep state of relaxation. It can also generate a beneficial emotional release, as it feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person, the body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects, feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. During a Reiki treatment the “Giver – Reiki practitioner” is only a conduit for the flow of Reiki energy to the “Receiver – Client” The giver is not a healer, they are in a sense only attuned to open up to the flow of Reiki in order that they can help direct it to the Client.

Important Note: Doctors and Psychiatrists are qualified physicians who specialise in treating Physical and Mental disorders, in no way is it suggested that they do not bring benefits to their clients, as many examples exist of good physicians helping improve the quality of peoples lives. Numerous confirmed Scientific studies within the Pharmaceutical and Medical industries have shown that the “Placebo Effect” creates what is known as “Self Healing” within approximately 40% of the population. This healing occurs not as a direct result of taking any prescribed medication, or receiving any treatment or complementary therapy, but by “kick starting” the individuals innate inner process of Self Healing – For even by taking medication or receiving therapy the individual actually creates the self healing from within. It is therefore important that as many options and choices are available to the general public when it comes to their Health and Well Being, especially with the increased risk of over medicating the populace, with the commensurate rise of harmful Iatrogenic incidences.

Many within Complementary practices will know –  All true healing comes from within.
